Welcome

Our Theme this month is Humanness. "And being found in human form, he humbles himself" (Philippians 2: 8). God affirms the essential goodness of the human condition in becoming human in Jesus. A Catholic attitude towards the human condition is decidedly positive and compassionate. Catholics embrace their humanness as a gift, celebrate the essential goodness of being human, take delight in the enjoyment of human living, tolerate human imperfections, and are merciful in the face of human sinfulness.

The Grade 6 students are starting to plan for their transition to Junior High, grade 7. They’ll be filling out a “passport” as they move to a new Catholic school, choosing options and preparing themselves for 3 fun years of working with a variety of teachers, exploring new subjects and trying new things. The best advice is to make sure you visit our Catholic Junior High Schools and attend their open houses to make an informed choice. On Feb. 2 the grade 6’s will be touring St. Elizabeth Seton – (St. Bonaventure’s feeder school) to see what kind of options are available.
On Friday, Feb. 17, the grade 6’s will host our annual Mardi Gras Celebration. Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to help us make this day so special and to everyone who provided prizes. Please contact the school if you are able to help us with this wonderful event.

Family Day is on Monday, February 20, 2012 and there are many activities that families can partake in throughout the city. We hope you have the opportunity to reflect on how fortunate we are to have the people in our lives that we do.

Lastly, the teachers have Teachers’ Convention on March 1-2, which allows them the opportunity to have 2 days of professional development. Speakers come to Edmonton from all around North America to share promising practices, new research and sessions to help us improve and support our teaching.
